Chic shorts for the summer

We are coming up on short season and its time to prep your Summer wardrobe! As I've been out and about shopping for summer staples, I've noticed that patterned shorts are apparently a thing this season. There are so many cute patterns out there. If patterns aren't your thing I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone like I did and snag a pair of shorts with some sort of pattern on them.

I usually stay away from stripes because they can get a little tricky and unflattering on me. I never do horizontal stripes because they make you look wider than you are. But I've discovered a new style tip that vertical stripes elongate you and make your legs look longer than they are--Yaaay! This cute striped pair from Old Navy are perfect for dressing up and can also be worn dressed down. This outfit combination is perfect for a date night.

Top: Lightweight Sleeveless Tie-Neck Top for Women This fluttery top is light-weight and comes in two colors-- black and spruce (pictured). The sleeveless and v-neck design compliment each other and add just the right amount of elegance. For a night out, tie the ties into a small bow at the neck. For a more casual and relaxed look, leave it untied.

Shorts: Pixie Chino Shorts for Women On the rack these shorts looked pretty bland. But I love finding pieces that look like they wouldn't be fashionable but then turn out to be so chic. Pairing these striped cuties with this top and pumps is the perfect match.

Shoes: Emmala Pointy Toe Pumps These classic pumps are a perfect pair for the Pixie Chino Shorts. A high heel always makes your legs look better! You can't go wrong with classic black. These pumps won't go to waste. Wear them with business attire from 9 to 5 and then slip on these cute shorts for drinks or a date night.

How do you plan on dressing up shorts this Summer?
