The Best Camera for Bloggers and Resellers
Updated: Jul 20
As a blogger and a reseller there are a number of tools I need to run my business effectively. On the blogging side of things, I rely heavily on visual content for my blog and website—as a reseller, visual content is a necessity for displaying images of products for sale. In order to be at the top of my game in both arenas, I need a really good camera! So, I’d like to introduce you to the camera that I use: The Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II.
I purchased this camera a little over a year ago and it has been a game changer for my content development ever since. I use it for both still photos and for recording video content. This is a great starter camera if you are just starting out or if you want to upgrade from taking all of your photos on your phone.
MY FAVORITE ASPECTS OF THIS CAMERA
1. WiFi-Enabled. The fact that the Canon G9 X is wi-fi enabled makes transferring images and videos from the camera to my iPhone and laptop seamless. I can transfer 100+ images in under a minute. Yaay! Because nobody has time to manually transfer photos!
2. Small Size, Big Results. Look, the last thing I want to do is carry around a clunky camera. The Canon G9X fits into the palm of your hand and is lightweight. This means you can fit it in your purse, pocket, bag, etc. At the end of this post I provide info on a camera case.
3. Great quality. This camera takes great photos and video. If you're a blogger, reseller, or in any business that requires visual content, you need to ensure that you're sharing high quality photos. At the end of the day, no one wants to look at a blurry, out of focus image.
4. Reasonably Priced. Investing in your business is inevitable if you are going to grow. However, you do not have to break the bank to invest in a good camera. The Canon G9 X is affordable and provides everything you need for quality photos and video. The higher end DSLR cameras will run you 5K-10K! I recommend working your way up to that if a high-end camera is something you absolutely have to have.
USING A CAMERA TRIPOD
One of the ways I love to use my Canon PowerShot G9 X is to take pictures of myself modeling clothing for my resell business. I use a tripod and the timer function to achieve this. A tripod allows me to set up my camera and knock out a session of photographing all my products. Don’t allow not having someone to take pictures of you, stop you from moving forward in your business. Get a tripod and you will be good to go! I even take my tripod with me outside to takes photos-- yes, I'm that girl.
This is the camera tripod I use. I love it because it comes with a carry bag, making it perfect for traveling: Tripod Amazon Basics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod with Bag

MUST HAVE ACCESSORIES
The Canon PowerShot G9 X comes with one rechargeable battery pack, but I recommend buying a second one. If you are doing a long photography session, its possible that the battery will run out (It has happened to me a time or two). Having a backup battery will allow you to switch the battery out as needed and not skip a beat.
What does NOT come with the camera is a memory card. The camera by itself only has enough storage space to hold a small number of photos and will not have enough storage for video files. You will need to purchase a memory card (I recommend 128 GB). This will ensure that you always have room for all of your photo and video content.
Lastly, it’s a good idea to purchase a camera case. This is the one I have: Leather Camera Case. This case is small and compact and has a wristlet strap for easy carrying. A case will keep your camera from being damaged while its in your purse or while you are out and about using it outside.
